This book touched my soul
"A View of Ourselves" is poetry for our time!

Medicinal and magical uses of over sixty common herbs
Another bit of Magick from Ellen Evert Hopman!

More than a "feel good" Christian book
Warm reading

This is one of those "I can't put it down" books
A Superb Book!

If you have kids, you need this tape! This tape helps parents focus on a child's strengths, thereby building self-esteem and a good self-concept, through placing ownership of the grades squarely on their shoulders. All the pizzaz is placed on the positives while only gently touching upon the student's weaknesses. The authors compare this with having your spouse review your output during your day when all you want is to come home to a safe, supportive house. Even with the spouses best intentions, how long would you stay married to someone who only concentrated upon your weaknesses?
Get the tape...it has changed how I work with parents, students, and my own children! It works, and it makes the whole process much more fun for the parent.
Winning the Homework Battle

Tough Girls Finish First! The memories that have been teasing Winter about her parents are also chillingly brought to life by her Great-Aunt Rita.
Through it all we think that Winter will be just fine. And we're sort of glad she gets to be a kid again, too.
WowI know some people who didn't like the book, but I personally found it amazing, and so did my parents, who I forced to read it after I finished.
John Marsden has written another amazing piece of work. Like all his other books, it's got an edge to it, although the storyline of this book isn't quite as alternative as some of his other books, it has an almost "detached" feel to it.
Absolutely amazing. I would recommend this book, and any other by John Marsden to any one over the age of 15.

Very scholarlyAnd what rough beast, its hour come at last,
Slouches toward Bethlehem to be born?
was probably a reference to my poor uncle Ted with a bad case of the scabies. He's prone to skin rashes of various origins but of almost Biblical proportions. But the ones caused by those damn "crotch crickets" are the worst.
Other than the minor omission of the above point, I found this to be an excellent and scholarly book on the subject.
Let's get ready to rumble

Poetry
A creative, varied, and compulsively readable anthologyThe first thing I did when I saw this book was turn to significant dates in my life (birthdays, anniversaries, deaths) and read the poem for that day. It was more revealing than a horoscope, and much more engaging! I learned from this book that my wedding anniversary falls on the same day that Cleopatra committed suicide, commemorated in the text with an excerpt from Shakespeare.
This anthology is not a cheesy collection of "feel-good" poems. Some of these poems will inspire you, others will depress you, some might confuse you. There is a wide range of styles and authors in this book. There are poets that are familiar, and poets I've never heard of. Overall, the collection of poetry in this book makes me want to read much more than just the "poem of the day."
This book offers a great way to bring poetry into your daily life, and for those who are already poetry fanatics, this book presents poems in a new and intriguing light. It also provides a whole range of gift opportunities--who wouldn't like to read a poem composed on their birthday? This anthology wonderfully displays the variety, beauty and meaning of English and American poetry.
